Dear Parents,

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Thank you for taking the time to attend last week’s Parent-Teacher Conferences. These conversations are an important part of our shared commitment to your child’s learning and development. We truly appreciate your insights and the opportunity to work together. If you have any further questions or would like to discuss your child’s progress at any time, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Mid-Autumn Festival Celebrations

Our corridors are looking vibrant and festive! Thank you to all families who have started to send in mooncakes and lanterns ready for the Mid-Autumn Festival—your support has helped create a joyful atmosphere for the children. This celebration is a wonderful way to share traditions and strengthen our school community and we are looking forward to delivering the Mooncakes to the Elderly People’s Home on Monday 29th September and sharing some songs with them.

Parent Workshop and PTA Coffee Morning – Friday 24th Sept 8:45 am –9:45 am

We are hopeful that our Parent Workshop will proceed as planned on Friday morning, despite the typhoon disruptions.

Topic:Helping Children Thrive: Supporting Personal, Social and Emotional Growth

Facilitator: Ms. Day

This session will offer practical strategies and insights, and it will also be an opportunity to meet our parent representatives for the P.T.A. We would be delighted if you could join us.

Learning During Disruptions

As we anticipate disruption to normal school days due to the typhoon, class teachers will share optional learning activities via Tapestry or Seesaw which are fun and engaging for your child. These activities are designed to complement and reinforce what your child has been exploring and learning in school.

Here are some additional simple, screen-free ideas that can also support learning and fun at home:

  • Dominoes – Builds number sense and subitising skills.
  • Pairs or Snap – Strengthens memory and matching skills.
  • Board Games – Snakes and Ladders, Ludo, or Connect Four encourage counting, turn-taking, and strategic thinking.
  • Building and Construction – Blocks or LEGO for pattern-making, counting, and spatial awareness.
  • Storytelling Together – Encourage your child to create a story using toys or drawings, supporting language and creativity.
  • Cooking Together – Simple recipes allow children to practise measuring, counting, and following instructions.
  • Scavenger Hunts – Create a list of items to find around the home, reinforcing categorisation and problem-solving.
  • Simple Puzzles – Jigsaw puzzles or tangrams for problem-solving and fine motor skills.
These activities are designed to be enjoyable while reinforcing key skills in a natural, playful way.

Thank you for your continued support and flexibility during this unpredictable week. We look forward to celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival together and hope to see many of you at the coffee morning and workshop on Friday.

Warm regards,

Ruth Hanson
