Weekly Highlights is a weekly newsletter sent by the BVIS Leadership Team to parents, providing updates on notable news and activities at the school. The newsletter consists of three main sections: updates from the Principal, Head of Primary, and Head of Secondary.

Dear Parents,
I want to begin by saying thank you. Not for one particular thing but for a multitude. Over the last few weeks, the support, engagement, and understanding of our parent community has been incredible.

Thank you for your understanding about having to postpone or cancel ECAs and other events after school last week as a result of the directive from DOET due to the weather/typhoon.
Thank you for completing our Parent Satisfaction Survey, offering us your valuable insights into our school to help us improve what we do for our students and BVIS Community. The survey closes today, so if you have not done it yet, there is still time! Thank you again for your feedback. It really does help.
Thank you to everyone for coming to our various events including the launch of our 15th Anniversary Celebrations and student events at every phase.
This week we have been hosting senior leaders from across the Nord Anglia Group of schools. On our tour of the school with them, they were extremely impressed with the students, teachers, and facilities. We are always delighted to share our school with visitors and in particular, other educators. It helps us appreciate what a special place BVIS really is.

I am delighted to share that we have been shortlisted for the TES Student Mental Health Initiative of the year award. The international awards bring together international schools from around the world to celebrate excellence across the sector in one inclusive global event. The awards are for international schools outside of the UK that teach the British or international curricula around the world. To be shortlisted for this award is a wonderful achievement.

This award is a wonderful testament to the great work going on across the school to support our students’ health and wellbeing. The winners will be announced on December 10th."
My sincere thanks to all the staff that go above and beyond to ensure our students feel safe, supported, and always know they have the support of the adults and other students here at school.
Our school photographs were taken this week. Picture Perfect did a wonderful job of capturing your children, their personalities and characters. We will be sharing more details with you in the coming weeks about when the photos will be available to view and purchase online.

We were delighted to welcome representatives of the Binh Hung People’s Committee to the school today to celebrate the Upcoming Teacher’s Day. It is wonderful to have their support and interest in all that we do here at BVIS for our students and staff.

Wishing you all a great weekend ahead.

Should you wish to contact your child’s Class Teacher(s) or Form Tutor directly, we encourage communication to be written in the language you most feel confident to use.
Parents may also find it useful to contact their child’s class teacher(s) or form tutor directly for all individual queries about their academic work/social and emotional wellbeing in school. Individual contact details can be found in the Parents’ Handbooks or via our Primary/Secondary Receptionists.

It has been a lovely week in school with intense activity around the sport halls where we have had photographers busily capturing lovely images of our young learners as they move through the years here at BVIS. At the same time, we have had our U11 and U9, boys and girls’ footballers, competing in the City Championships. It has been wonderful to see these young sports stars developing their skills, team spirit and resilience as they face the highs and lows of taking part in these highly competitive championship matches. We are super proud of them all as we continue to achieve and progress in sport at BVIS. A huge thank you to our coaches for their support.

This week we celebrated the fantastic mathematical skills and critical thinking of our students. Back in late September, many of our Primary students took part in the FOBISIA online codebreaking challenge and we are pleased to report that the results are now in and we have had fantastic success. We have risen in the ranks of competing schools from 28th place to 22nd place out of 110 school across all of Asia.
At the individual level, we have had:
• 25 students achieve Level 1A certificates
• 11 students achieve the Level 1B certificates
• 6 students achieve Level 2A
• 12 students achieve Level 2B!
Well done to all. This was a really challenging competition that really showed the progress and strength of our learners here at BVIS in critical thinking and problem solving.
This week our EYFS performed their World Nursery Rhymes. Parents were invited in for a Stay and Play All Together (SPLAT) and to watch the children perform. It was lovely to see the students showcasing their knowledge, language and performance skills. These are key areas of focus for building the foundations of early literacy.

Thank you to our community leaders in Secondary for sharing this competition in our Primary assemblies, highlighting the need for conservation and to preserve endangered animals. This links beautifully with our Rainforest topic in Year 3 and our values of Globa Citizenship. Tuesday of this week I was fortunate enough to be invited as a keynote speaker to the BritCham event in Hanoi. Vietnam Education Forum 2025

Students learned that:
• Talking about mental health shows strength, not weakness, and checking in on friends can make a real difference.
• Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in men, and early detection saves lives.
• Testicular cancer mainly affects young men aged 15–35 but is highly treatable when caught early.
To reinforce these messages, students completed a fun Movember crossword puzzle filled with health facts and positive wellbeing reminders.

Together, we’re encouraging students to look after themselves and support the men in their lives through real, meaningful conversations this Movember
